Doubts over e-mail allegedly from lacking Chinese language tennis star Peng Shuai – BBC Information
The pinnacle of the Ladies’s Tennis Affiliation (WTA) has forged doubt on an e-mail that Chinese language state media claims is from tennis participant Peng Shuai, who has not been heard from since she made sexual assault allegations in opposition to a high Chinese language authorities official two weeks in the past.
Within the e-mail, Ms Peng purportedly says the allegations are “not true”.
Steve Simon, chairman of the WTA, stated the message “solely raises” his issues about Ms Peng’s security.
“I’ve a tough time believing that Peng Shuai really wrote the e-mail we obtained or believes what’s being attributed to her,” he stated in an announcement.
Written in her voice and revealed by the broadcaster CGTN, the e-mail claims she just isn’t lacking or unsafe, including: “I’ve simply been resting at residence and the whole lot is ok.”
