Fake Photo of Kamala Harris With Jeffrey Epstein

Jeffrey Epstein’s connection with government leaders such as former presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton faces further potential scrutiny this week amid the release of previously unseen court documents.

Judge Loretta A. Preska signed an order on December 18 for the public release of the identities of more than 150 people mentioned in court documents from a now-settled 2015 civil lawsuit filed by Virginia Giuffre that centered on allegations that Epstein’s associate and former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell facilitated her sexual abuse.

Several prominent figures, including Clinton and Britain’s Prince Andrew, are expected to be named. The list will also include sex abuse victims and Epstein’s employees.

However, some high-profile figures unconnected to the Epstein and Maxwell saga have also been targeted falsely on social media including U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.

The Claim

Multiple posts shared on social media on January 2, 2024, showed a photo of what appeared to be Kamala Harris standing beside Jeffrey Epstein.

One post on Truth Social by user @mauricesnyder showed the photo of Harris next to what appears to be Epstein with the caption “Make this photo famous.”

The Facts

The connections between Jeffrey Epstein and famous people, including former presidents, have sparked years of rampant speculation and misinformation, falsely tying unassociated celebrities to the disgraced financier.

The photo of Kamala Harris and Jeffrey Epstein is similarly false.

The original photo did not feature Epstein at all. It is a manipulated photo of Harris and her husband Douglas Emhoff, taken in September 2015 at The Broad Museum Black Tie Inaugural Dinner in Los Angeles, California.

Video of Harris and Emhoff at the 2015 event can also be found on YouTube.

Harris’ name has not appeared in any of the court papers connected to Maxwell and Epstein and there is no evidence to suggest that Harris had an association with the late financier.

The vice president is not the only famous name to have been the victim of online manipulation this week as news of the Ghislaine Maxwell court documents heats up. Commentators attempted to make a connection between chat show host Jimmy Kimmel and Epstein by creating a bogus copy of flight logs for Epstein’s private jet.

A photo shared showed the word “IMMEL” on what looked like a copy of the log which some suggested was a truncated reference to Kimmel. However, as archived evidence showed, neither Kimmel’s name nor variations of it were in the original flight records.

The Ruling

The photo of Kamala Harris with Jeffrey Epstein has been digitally manipulated. The original, shot in 2015, was of Harris with her husband Douglas Emhoff.
