Sir Tom Stoppard is one in all Britain’s biggest residing playwrights, whose feats of mental brilliance, wit and downright cleverness have stored audiences enthralled for many years, ever since he hit the large time together with his absurdist tragicomedy Rosenkrantz and Gildenstern are Useless in 1967.

His newest play Leopoldstadt opened to nice acclaim initially of 2020 and shut simply 7 weeks later when the pandemic pressured the closure of theatres.

Some feared Leopoldstadt may be Stoppard’s final, however he tells Newsnight he feels he “should” write one other play.

Leopoldstadt returns to London’s Wyndhams Theatre on August 7.
