Lockheed Martin baggage contract to carry again Mars samples to Earth
NASA has awarded a contract to Lockheed Martin House of Littleton, Colorado, to construct the Mars Ascent Car (MAV), a small, light-weight rocket to launch rock, sediment, and atmospheric samples from the floor of the Purple Planet. The award brings NASA a step nearer to the primary robotic round-trip to carry samples safely to Earth via the Mars Pattern Return program.
