The Ottawa Police Service missing persons unit said Friday it was requesting public assistance in locating a 40-year-old woman.

April Jackson was last seen on May 16 at approximately 1:30 p.m. near Heatherington Road in the Heron Gate neighbourhood, police said in a news release.
Her family was concerned for her safety, the release added.
Jackson was described as Indigenous and standing about five feet seven inches (170 centimetres) tall and weighing 180 pounds (82 kilograms). She has long, straight black and grey hair and brown eyes.
