Multiple 911 callers reported flames through the roof of a single-family home on 8th Line Road, Ottawa Fire Services tweeted. Firefighters responded at 11:43 p.m. Monday, and dealt with “multiple hazards on scene including live overhead wires, 1000L oil tank in the basement, a potential roof collapse and ammunition kept inside the home.”

All of the home’s occupants exited safely, according to OFS. An Ottawa fire investigator was sent to the scene to determine its cause.

OFS spokesperson Nicholas DeFazio advised that people who keep ammunition indoors (legally, in this case, he confirmed) make that known and specify where it is if they’re calling 911 about a fire. And although OFS also has a safety officer at every call, the same goes for any other hazards that could endanger responding firefighters, such as a heating oil or propane tank.
