Senator Katie Britt Mocked for ‘Cringe’ Video About Pregnancy Database

Alabama Republican Senator Katie Britt is facing a new round of ridicule after sharing a video that some say features the same “overacting” as her infamous response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address.

Britt was ruthlessly mocked after delivering the GOP response to Biden’s address in March, with critics suggesting that her demeanor and manner of speech was “creepy” and “overly dramatic.” She was also heavily criticized for seemingly attempting to blame Biden for a woman being sex trafficked in Mexico decades before he was president.

In a one-minute video shared online Thursday, a characteristically animated Britt introduces the More Opportunities for Moms to Succeed (MOMS) Act, a Republican-backed bill that would create a federal pregnancy database consisting of “pro-life” resources for expectant mothers.

Resources in the database would include so-called “pregnancy crisis centers,” which attempt to prevent women from undergoing abortions in areas where the procedure is legal. Britt argued in a statement that the bill was proof that “you can absolutely be pro-life, pro-woman, and pro-family at the same time.”

However, the nature of the bill itself was not the primary focus of most of those who were commenting on Britt’s video by Friday. Britt was instead criticized for being “super cringe,” “coming across like a serial killer” and spouting “Handmaid’s Tale gibberish,” among other insults.

“Omg,” @ArtCandee wrote in a post to X, formerly Twitter, while sharing the video. “Katie Britt has dropped a new super cringe video for introducing a bill to create a national registry of pregnant women. Clearly she didn’t learn her lesson about overacting and not coming across like a serial killer.”

“More Handmaid’s Tale gibberish from Katie Britt … a person who should never speak on camera ever again,” wrote @frostychubbler.

“Katie Britt should never do another scripted video,” @BlueHogReport wrote. “She’s horrendously bad at this.”
