SAN FRANCISCO — Stewart Butterfield, the chief government of Slack, a office communication platform owned by Salesforce, mentioned on Monday that he would depart his place in January.
Mr. Butterfield, who helped discovered Slack, introduced his departure lower than per week after Bret Taylor, Salesforce’s co-chief government, resigned from his publish. Mr. Taylor, who can also be leaving the corporate in January, helped engineer the deal to purchase Slack for $27.7 billion in 2020.
Marc Benioff, a founding father of Salesforce, will stay the corporate’s chief government. Lidiane Jones, a Salesforce cloud government, will succeed Mr. Butterfield as Slack’s chief government. Slack’s chief product officer, Tamar Yehoshua, might be leaving Salesforce.
“Stewart is an unbelievable chief who created an incredible, beloved firm in Slack. He has helped lead the profitable integration of Slack into Salesforce,” a Salesforce spokeswoman mentioned in a press release.

Slack, which was based in 2010, grew rapidly and went public in 2019. Firms use Slack so employees can talk with each other rapidly and sometimes in teams. Its buy by Salesforce underscored how the coronavirus pandemic had cemented distant work and essentially modified the office.
The acquisition of Slack price practically double Salesforce’s subsequent largest acquisition. In 2019, Salesforce purchased the information visualization software program firm Tableau for $15.3 billion. Tableau’s chief government, Mark Nelson, resigned from Salesforce final Thursday.
