Former President Donald Trump’s lawyer Alina Habba appears to have been demoted, a recent court filing shows.
On Wednesday, Trump’s legal time reached an agreement with E. Jean Carroll in the defamation case, extending a deadline in the case. In the filing, which was reviewed by Newsweek, Habba was not listed as the lead attorney, and instead followed behind Trump’s attorney John Sauer.
“It is accordingly stipulated and agreed that Ms. Carroll’s deadline for responding to Mr. Trump’s motions for judgment as a matter of law and for a new trial are extended to March 26, 2024, and Mr. Trump’s deadline for submitting a reply in support of those motions is extended to April 9, 2024,” the motion on Wednesday said.
Earlier this year, Trump suggested he may choose a new lawyer to represent him when he appeals his damages verdict.
This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
