Arnold Schwarzenegger Nails an ‘MNF’ Prediction: ‘I’m a Learning Computer’

Next year marks the 40-year anniversary of the release of the blockbuster classic The Terminator, but if you ask the Terminator himself—Arnold Schwarzenegger—his CPU processing speed is as high as ever.

In an appearance on the Manningcast edition of Monday Night Football, the former movie star (and bodybuilder and governor of California) impressed both Peyton and Eli Manning when he nailed a prediction in the first quarter. With the Chargers knocking on the door of their second touchdown against the Jets, Peyton called on Schwarzenegger to predict who would score.

Schwarzenegger’s pick: Austin Ekeler rushing into the end zone. He was precisely right, which sparked a funny tweet from Schwarzenegger after the Omaha Productions account posted the moment to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

“What can I say?” Schwarzenegger tweeted. “My CPU is a neural-net processor; a learning computer.”

Immediately after Schwarzenegger picked Ekeler, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert dropped back and handed the ball to Ekeler, who broke a tackle up the sideline.

“He just called it. He’s the Terminator,” Peyton exclaimed as Ekeler neared the end zone. “Yes! Give it to him.”

Ekeler appeared to get in, and the Manning brothers posted Schwarzenegger’s face on their “Perfect Prediction” board. A minute later, the referee ruled that Ekeler stepped out of bounds, capping his run at 21 yards. But the Chargers handed him the ball again, and he finished off the drive with a 1-yard rush.

“That was going to be awkward to make you take Arnold’s picture off,” Peyton quipped to a member of the Manningcast production team. “I was going to let you do that.”

Credit to Schwarzenegger for the prediction, especially after he calmly talked his way through a crucial fumble immediately before. A lesser computer might have stumbled watching Jets quarterback Zach Wilson get stripped down 7-0, but Schwarzenegger stayed on message and continued answering Manning’s question about his new book without a hiccup as Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa dove on the ball and set Los Angeles up with great field position.

Schwarzenegger’s appearance also sparked a funny moment when his pet donkey, Lulu, dropped by to eat something out of his hands as the Monday Night Football crew tried to go to break.

“What is that?” Eli asked. “That donkey looks like you eating, Peyton. It’s the same thing.”

With the 27-6 win, the Chargers improved to 4-4 overall. With the loss, the Jets dropped to 4-4. With the cookie, Lulu improved from “hungry” to “not hungry.”
