Is Christmas even a holiday if you don’t watch The Grinch? One family watched it live at Universal Orlando, Florida, but there appeared to be a distraction on stage.

Kelli Warner, from Los Angeles, California, has shared a few snippets from the show on Instagram as she couldn’t keep her eyes off one cast member.

Since it was posted on December 10, the hilarious video shared by @themeparkmomlife has racked up 3.8 million views. The footage begins with The Grinch and the Whos dancing hand in hand. It then cuts to the green pot-bellied creature’s sidekick Max, the dog, who wasn’t exactly sticking to the script.

The stay-at-home mom-of-three told Newsweek: “Max was adorable—I think it’s always challenging to have a live animal in a large loud show arena, but he did pretty well considering the very large crowd watching.”

The text layered over the clips says: “Everyone else is watching The Grinch but I’m watching—Max’s trainer get in the hole on the stage and then watching Max while he waits for treats on his pole [and] escapes his sleigh,” followed by a clip of him jumping off the sleigh.

“Gets his ears freed,” as he pokes his head into the hole and has his antler’s removed, “chases his tail and does tricks for more treats from the hole, and ends the show [by] getting his trainer and running off the stage as fast as possible.”

The story is about a green grump who despises Christmas and tries his best to ruin it for the other residents of Whoville. However, there is a happy ending for the miserable Grinch who is accepted by one of the Whos. The Grinch was first launched as a book in 1957 written by Dr. Seuss, an American author and professional cartoonist whose works have been adapted into numerous films, including The Cat in the Hat and Horton Hears a Who.

In 2000, Jim Carrey starred in How the Grinch Stole Christmas and over two decades later, it is still a global family favorite. The film’s worldwide gross is $345,141,403, according to Box Office Mojo.

While Max is far from the star of the show in the movie, he seems to be a hit with viewers who have visited the Orlando Resort. So far, the hilarious video, captioned: “This show overall is SO GOOD but Max is the best part!” has amassed over 193,000 likes and many comments.

One user said: “I went earlier this year and Max not only flipped his antler to his chin, he also only focused on his trainer for the rest of the show and kept trying to crawl into the hole with her. Hands down, he was the best performer I’ve ever seen.”

“We just went last week. Max barked when he didn’t get his treat for his trick. It was hilarious. I was so focused on Max,” said another.

Another suggested: “They should’ve put the trainer in a Whoville outfit to look more cohesive.”
