A strange beer bottle found in the wall of a house in Delaware has piqued the interest of the internet.

“I have never found anything like it after 17 years and over 3,000 demolition inspections of every type of building or facility you can think of,” David, who asked to remain anonymous, told Newsweek. He stumbled on the bottle while conducting a hazardous material survey.

Scrawled on the label of the Gunther beer bottle, a note read: “This bottle was put in here by the plumber on 3/25/55.”

“The whole inspection team was surprised,” said David. “I initially thought it was a bottle filled with urine, as I have seen that many times throughout my career, drywall workers are notorious for this as they work hard and do not get many breaks.

“Once we realized it was an empty beer bottle, we thought it was pretty cool, then we noticed the note on it and were blown away. We all stopped working to admire it and speculate about its origin, the plumber, and what was going on in the year 1955. We all took photos of it to show friends,” he explained.

Gunther Brewing Company was a brewery in Baltimore, Maryland, with a heritage that pre-dated Prohibition. It operated until 1960, when it was purchased by Hamm’s Brewing Company, which later became part of Miller Brewing Company.

Gunther was the second-largest brewing company in Baltimore until 1959, producing upwards of 800,000 barrels a year and employing around 600 people.

The house in question was less than 100 years old, and it was being demolished to make room for a parking lot: “The house was in very poor condition,” added the poster.

It wasn’t just the bottle in the house, either, as David described it as “a time capsule,” adding that it was: “Complete with the bathroom mirror cabinets, which had a hole to deposit used disposable razor blades behind the wall.”

This isn’t the first time something found in a house has impressed the internet—from a secret door behind wallpaper to the slightly terrifying child’s shoe found in a Wisconsin home.

David posted a picture of the beer bottle on Reddit’s popular r/mildlyinteresting subreddit, where it has been upvoted over 5,000 times and received more than 240 comments from impressed and intrigued viewers.

“So cool,” said one commenter, while another joked: “Helpful to know that the plumber was liquored up on the job.”

Others even shared their own experiences of finding unusual things while doing DIY work or exploring new places.

Redditor mightylordredbeard said: “I found one in my home when remodeling. It was in the bathroom. There was a note from 1912 when the house was built, one from 1945 when it was remodeled—talked a lot about the war and how their son died—one from 1976, and then the one from 2014 that I left. All the same jar.”

“I knew a drywaller who got a kick out of putting beer cans in the wall,” said Top-Report-840. “Years down the road I get called to a property I had not been on for a long time. Sawing out a piece of ceiling to repair and two natty ice cans fell out with the drywall. People get a kick out of doing this and it’s slightly amusing but also really annoying.”
