Belarus opposition chief’s jailing known as revenge – BBC Information
The sentencing of Belarusian opposition chief Sergei Tikhanovsky to 18 years in jail is “private revenge” by the authorities, his spouse, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, has mentioned.
She mentioned her husband was a frontrunner for hundreds of thousands of Belarusians and the federal government of disputed chief Alexander Lukashenko feared him.
Tikhanovsky had rallied mass protests towards Mr Lukashenko and deliberate to problem him within the 2020 presidential election however was detained earlier than the vote.
