Belarus-Poland border camp empties as migrants transfer to warehouse – BBC Information
A migrant camp on the Belarus-Poland border that grew to become a brief residence to some 2,000 individuals has been emptied, border guards have confirmed.
The migrants who had been tenting there in freezing circumstances, hoping to cross into the EU, have been moved to a close-by warehouse.
It marks a de-escalation of tensions between Belarus and the European Union.
Belarus has been accused of orchestrating the border disaster to destabilise the EU – which it denies.
The migrants are primarily from the Center East, and on Thursday greater than 400 Iraqis have been repatriated from Belarus on a flight to Irbil organized by the Iraqi authorities.
