Five people escaped injury Friday morning after a car crashed through a fence and into the rear of a townhouse in the 2000 block of Cotters Crescent in the Uplands area.
The vehicle was on Uplands Drive just before the collision occurred at about 6:45 a.m., Ottawa Fire Services said in a release on social media.

Firefighters arrived about four minutes after the call and confirmed the structural integrity of the home was compromised.
The service’s structural collapse team was dispatched to the scene and began shoring up the home.
The residence was deemed unlivable and city experts have been called to examine the structure and determine next steps.
The five occupants inside at the time were uninjured and five cats had to be removed from the site.
