Unlike dogs, cats don’t usually come to you when you call their name, although they sure do come running if they hear you shake a bag of snacks.

In a hilarious clip shared on TikTok earlier in March, under the username nimbus_siberian, a cat called Nimbus can be seen darting at high speed toward his mom as soon as he hears her shaking a bag of his favorite treats.

The poster can be heard saying: “Do you want a treat?” to which the Siberian cat seems to answer with a loud and prolonged meow. A caption shared along with the post says: “The most important pit stop in his opinion.”

Because cats are independent and often solitary creatures, they don’t feel like they have to obey our orders and do what we say. However, even though it’s much harder than training a dog, cats can be trained too.

According to pet wellness experts, Pet Keen, if you want to teach your cat a command, the most effective way is to practice positive reinforcement, rewarding their behavior with praise and most importantly treats.

“Cats easily understand cause and effect, and they’ll quickly understand that listening to you gets them delectable rewards,” the website says.

The video went viral on social media, getting viewers from across Instagram. It has so far received over 1.7 million views and 344,800 likes on the platform.

One user, Chels, commented: “Slurp.’ ‘Do you wanna treat?’ ‘MeeEeeeOoow.” And Muniera_k asked: “Why does Nimbus always have so much energy?” Gardening With Soule added: “My cat is eyeballing the phone. He knows that word but it’s not my video!”

Jo wrote: “Me thinking that was a dog flying in there. That’s a fast cat!” And KosmoKat said: “Yeah, you definitely should make a patent application for inventing traveling with speed of light. Nimbus is from another dimension.”

Another user, rachelhock13, commented: “Nimbus really said ‘this is my only pit stop this race mama, I need the energy to keep going.'”

Michael Shaw said: “Omg that cat is fast!! What are they putting in those treats?” And toddkoniezhny added: “Nimbus is quite nimble! Man o man is he one handsome fella. Thanks for sharing him with us.”
