When this young couple from New York lost their passports four days before a long-awaited trip to Canada, their family rolled up their sleeves and came to the rescue.
In a post shared on TikTok earlier in April by Pascal Kadamani, under the username itspasc, she explained: “Me and my boyfriend lost our passports 4 days before our trip to Canada so his parents came over to help us look.”
As the poster explained in the comments, the parents drove all the way to the Upper East Side from Bergen County just for the sole purpose of finding the passports—which thankfully they did.

Kadamani told Newsweek that the trip was strategically booked around her favorite musician, Noah Kahan, performing at the Scotiabank Arena, and she really didn’t want to miss out on it.
Luckily her boyfriend’s parents took the matter into their own hands and came armed with a ladder and lots of motivation.
“My boyfriend’s father found [the passports] after he and his wife drove from Paramus, New Jersey to our apartment in the Upper East Side during rush hour and in the middle of a rain storm.”
“Both passports were sitting under the ledge of the shelf over our kitchen closet right outside our fireproof safe, where they should have been. As my boyfriend’s father says, ‘everybody knows if you put a valuable document in front of the firebox, it’s just as good if it’s in the firebox.'”
Thanks to the man’s parents the couple made it to Canada and had the best time on their holiday.
“We had such a great time exploring Toronto, watching the eclipse, going to a concert, and then made our way back to New York.
“As stressful as this experience was beforehand, it is such a funny story to now look back on. We were too busy being relieved and excited we can still go on our trip to be annoyed or frustrated with ourselves.”
According to the U.S. Department of State, about 48 percent of Americans currently have a passport, a huge increase from the 1990s, when only five percent of the population had the much-loved travel document.
Between October 2022 and September 2023, the Department experienced unprecedented demand for passports, and issued over 24 million passport books and cards, the highest amount ever in American history.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 3.2 million views and 120,100 likes on the platform.
One user, Karen, commented: “This is so nice but I’d die if my mother in law went through my house.” And annalese said: “Y’all don’t have a lock box you put all important things in??”
Nikki Rey added: “I do a passport check every month because anxiety.”
