We all love to spoil our pups from time-to-time, whether that’s with brand new toys, a pup cup, or perhaps even their own birthday party, as one miniature dachshund, Lia, got to experience.

When the 1-year-old dog celebrated her first birthday, her owners could think of no better way to celebrate the big day than having a surprise party at the beach. All of Lia’s favorite people were there to honor the special occasion, and she couldn’t contain her excitement as soon as she saw everyone huddled together on the picnic blanket.

Without hesitation, Lia ran across the sandy beach to make her grand entrance at the party and showed her sheer gratitude for the best day she could have hoped for.

In an adorable video that was posted late last month on her dedicated TikTok account (@lia_theminidachshund), Lia was seen receiving fuss from all the guests and even finding time to play with her fellow canine buddies. But no birthday party would be complete without a cake, so Lia was also surprised with a dog-friendly cake, complete with icing, and decorated with strawberries and blueberries.

The video of Lia’s “surprise party” in Barcelona has delighted many TikTok users, as it’s already been viewed more than 207,100 times and gained over 24,600 likes so far.

Newsweek reached out to @lia_theminidachshund via email for comment. We could not verify the details of the case.

It’s safe to say that Lia was suitably pampered on her first birthday, but her owners aren’t the only ones who like to celebrate their four-legged friend. According to a 2022 poll by YouGov, 40 percent of owners throw a birthday party for their pet, and 57 percent will buy them gifts for holidays and birthdays.

Our love for our pets may not come as a surprise, given that nine in 10 people consider them to be part of the family. Many people don’t even consider themselves to merely be their pet’s owner, as 51 percent of dog owners refer to themselves as their parent, and 33 percent call themselves best friends, according to the poll.

Judging by Lia’s happy wagging tail and uncontrollable excitement, there’s no doubt that she loved every moment of her surprise birthday party. Unfortunately, she has a long time to wait before her second birthday to live it all over again.

TikTok Users React

Since the TikTok clip went viral, hundreds of social media users have commented on the post to wish Lia a happy birthday and praise her owners for giving her such a memorable day.

One user wrote jokingly: “The perfect video doesn’t exi……”

Another TikTok user commented: “Adorable. Who’s cutting onions again?”

A third user responded: “He will never forget that day, I’m sure.”

A fourth added: “You are a great mum.the sausage mum life is not for the faint hearted. Happy birthday wee pal.”
