They say a ‘dog is a man’s best friend’ but some men aren’t sure if they want to own one. They appear to eat their words, though, as soon as they agree to welcome a furry friend into their lives.
In a viral Instagram video, Jodie Hazlewood’s dad who has been caught on camera snoozing in an armchair while cuddling her miniature pinscher, who is also asleep.
The text layered over the clip says “My dad’s not that into dogs,” but the footage certainly says otherwise.
So far, the clip has racked up 6.5 million views and more than 577,000 likes since it was shared on January, 10.

The footage shared to a home interior account called @thehouseupstairsis is perfectly paired with the Bill Withers and Grover Washington, Jr. song “Just the Two of Us.”
The heartwarming video has amassed more than 2,100 comments; many are from people whose family member shared a similar sentiment as the original poster’s father.
“It’s always the dads that ‘don’t want dogs’ that become the best doggie snugglers,” said one user.
“Get that man a recliner..My grandma was like that. She didn’t like dogs in the house but when she thought you weren’t looking she’d give the dog lots of pets and food from her plate,” said another.
A third comment said: “Looks like he absolutely doesn’t like them at all.”
“Doggy’s are so horrible they make you cuddle them! What a lovely image,” said a fourth.
While the duo aren’t napping in a bed, there’s no harm in doing so, according to Laurie Hess, a veterinarian. She previously told Newsweek that sharing a bed with a dog can prevent separation anxiety and make the dog calmer.
“A pup that shares a bed with its owner may also be more behaviorally at ease with being touched than other dogs since they are used to daily physical touch and being in close proximity as humans,” the veterinarian added.
Newsweek has shared numerous stories where dads have warmed up to their pets despite claiming otherwise prior to their arrival. Like this man, who didn’t want the pet but now spoils it more than you’d ever believe. Another was caught feeding his dog snacks from the fridge despite “not wanting the dog.”
