Every dog tries to sneak a taste of their owner’s dinner every now and then, but they don’t know some kitchen staples that are perfectly harmless for us, could be fatal for them.

A dog owner has left the internet in stitches after sharing a clip of her dog, Steve, angry that he’s not allowed to eat curry with the men in the house. In the viral video, shared on TikTok earlier in February, under the username @sausagesoxandsteve, the border collie can be seen lying on a chair by the kitchen counter, begging his mom to let him have dinner with the men.

The owner can be heard saying to Steve: “You can’t be having a curry with the boys. just because you’re a boy, doesn’t mean you have a curry with them!”

The hilarious clip comes with a caption that reads: “When you really want to be one of the lads but you just don’t fit it.” It is followed by: “Steve is not happy because he’s not allowed a curry.”

Newsweek previously reported on which of our foods are harmful for dogs and which ones they can eat safely.

On top of the list of harmful foods is chocolate, which can be fatal. Garlic, onions, chives and leeks are also toxic, as well as grapes and raisins, macadamia nuts, avocado, alcohol and caffeine. Then there’s cinnamon, which isn’t toxic but can irritate their mouths and cause a drop in blood sugar. Moreover, if inhaled, it can cause choking and difficulty breathing.

Ice cream is another food to avoid, due to its high sugar content and some dogs’ intolerance to lactose. It is also best to avoid corn on the cob, as it can cause intestinal blockages in canines.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 451,000 views and more than 68,900 likes on the platform.

One user, Hereward the Wake, commented: “Surely he deserves a cheeky naan?!.” And ceej posted: “Um excuse me ma’m Steve has just got back from a long day of herding the postman and chewing slippers let the poor lad have a meal with his mates.”

Orpheus Riker added: “But…maybe I can has some other snackies from the table mama?’ What a handsome lil man.”
