A dog that has been in the care of a rescue for almost her whole life is still searching for the right forever home.

Dutch Shepherd Mia has been living at a Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) facility in Herefordshire, England, for four years and four months.

Despite watching more than 1,500 other animals find their own forever families, Mia is still searching for her own.

In October 2019, RSPCA inspectors rescued Mia and her mother from awful living conditions.

“She had such a challenging start to life,” Claire Hoffman who takes care of Mia at the RSPCA’s Southridge Animal Center said. “We’ve shown her as much love as we can and she’s grown into a really lovely dog. But living in kennels for such a long time is no life for a dog like her and we believe she may, sadly, be the RSPCA’s longest-staying resident.”

The RSPCA is the U.K.’s largest animal welfare charity.

While Mia is well cared for, staff are heartbroken that she has been unable to find a family.

“Mia was just a tiny puppy when she came to us,” said Hoffman. “She’s spent almost her entire life in kennels.”

The RSPCA shared Mia’s story on their official TikTok account earlier this week where the video has been viewed more than 60,000 times and has hundreds of comments.

“Someone adopt her please,” said Debbie.

Viewer Charlotte Millett343 wrote: “4 years?! Heartbreaking. I hope she finds the perfect home very soon.”

“No pup should have to wait that long!! Her precious soul. I hope someone gives her a loving safe forever home really soon,” said Charlotte Windsor.

Unfortunately, Mia can be wary around new people which does require potential adopters to visit her multiple times before she can form a bond.

But once she warms to people, she is described as intelligent, active and affectionate.

Her ideal home is one where her new owners can dedicate time to her training and provide a calm and secure environment.

“She’s such a pretty, friendly dog with so much love to give; I can’t understand why no one is even asking about her,” Hoffman said.
