After a life of street living in Cyprus, one rescue dog has found herself in a house of royalty, but since she moved to a much colder home, she needed to come up with new ways where she could keep every inch of her body warm.

TikTok user @tanyagard was on vacation in Cyprus when a street dog Dolly walked into her life. The island has nearly 250,000 stray dogs, Cyprus Mail reported in 2022. After reaching out to Facebook groups for advice on how to bring a dog home with her to the United Kingdom, Dolly was off to her forever home.

But given that she was used to the warm, sunny island weather, Dolly was in for a rude awakening to the cold and rainy days up north. However, her street smarts kicked in and she found a hack to keep her warm after walks in her new environment.

In the February 8 TikTok video posted by her rescuer, Dolly was cozying up next to a fireplace. Her paws were stretched out in front. She used the fire to warm them back up. The caption reads: “Street dog life ain’t for Dolly.”

Everyone loves to get warm and toasty next to the fire, even if they are used to cold weather. It’s especially nice for Dolly as she is originally from a hot climate, but thankfully, she has adjusted to her new home.

The owner wrote in the comments section: “I’ve been lucky that Dolly has settled well into British weather.”

Plus, Dolly isn’t the only one in this home who finds pleasure in warming up next to the fireplace. The owner added that their two other dogs also fight for a place smack dab in the center.

Newsweek reached out to @tanyagard via TikTok for additional comment.

‘They Deserve the Best’

The TikTok video had 239,200 views, 24,000 likes and 102 comments as of Tuesday.

“She knows her worth,” commented one viewer.

Others chimed in about the life of luxury their rescue dogs lead now. One person said: “Mine is Romanian, lives off m&s [retailer Marks and Spencer] dog food & treats, sprawls out on a fleece bed by the heater… they deserve the best.”

Another added: “My rescue won’t even get her paws wet.” Once a rescue tastes the spoiled life, there is no going back.
