Dog Thinking Every Visitor Is There Just to Pet Him Melts Hearts

All dogs deserve love and pets, and some have worked out to demand them. A pup called Otto has left the internet in stitches after forcing a pair of strangers to give him attention.

A clip was shared on TikTok on Sunday, under the username @lchevy6. In the footage, Otto can be seen making his way to the door, while holding his fluffy toy in his mouth, as soon as he sees people standing in the lawn, thinking that they are there for him. His owner tries to make him understand that these people don’t know him, but he won’t let go until she lets him out. Otto gets a couple of strokes, which he really seems to appreciate.

The post comes with a caption that reads: “When your dog thinks every visitor is here to see him.” It is followed by: “Otto will literally not settle down till he gets his pets. Who can blame him?”

Dogs love being strokes by their humans; they would do anything to get pets. That is why it’s also used as a way to reward them during training. But why do our pups love such physical contact so much?

The experts at Forever Vets say that there is one simple reason; it makes them happy. When dogs get pets from their humans, their brains release oxytocin. This is also known as the love hormone, which makes the interaction really pleasant for them. While not all canines are the same, usually, most love getting scratched and pets on their chest, neck and shoulder areas.

“Dogs may also enjoy scratches around their ears or along their back, and if a dog rolls onto its back to show its belly, it might be asking you to scratch its stomach,” the Forever Vets experts add.

One user, Alienkreeper, commented: “If there is a dog, I am legally obligated to meet said dog.” And KEESH1212 posted: “Raise your hand if you’re STRICTLY here for Ottozone.”

Ashley Schaefer McHu wrote: “People who don’t like dogs are not permitted to enter my home. My dog said so.”

And Brian added: “Ma’am the reason you are there is to open the door for us to meet Otto.”
