Dog Who Needs To ‘Work on His Confidence’ at Doggy Daycare Melts Hearts

Doggy daycare is an excellent choice for owners to drop their pets off while they go to work, school, or on vacation, but for Saphia Zaman’s dog, the experience wasn’t quite as expected.

This dog mom decided to check on how her Bernedoodle Rufus was doing at his new daycare. When she pulled up the doggy cam, she saw Rufus shyly standing in the corner watching the other dogs play.

She wrote in a caption on Monday’s TikTok video, which brought in over 42 million views, that the daycare told her Rufus needs to work on his confidence.

Rufus stood by himself while all the other dogs played with each other. His timidness is not uncommon for dogs. An introverted, or shy dog, will act withdrawn in different situations. In this case, Rufus appears to be overwhelmed by all the dogs at his new daycare.

“I would drop everything and pick him up IMMEDIATELY,” said @abbeycole, echoing the feelings of a majority of TikTok users in the comments section. User @justclassicallycassidy added, “Oh I would sob and would get a speeding ticket so fast getting back to daycare.”

As a cross between Bernese Mountain dogs and poodles, Bernedoodles are oftentimes known for their playful and outgoing personalities, according to PetMD. But, of course, every dog has his or her own unique personality.

Rufus showed more of the classic Bernedoodle personality during his obedience test. In an update video Zaman posted to the TikTok account @saphiazaman, Rufus is seen running around with a case of the zoomies and the shyness already disappearing.

Bernedoodles are known to be great family dogs. These fluffy dogs are loving, kind, and enjoy spending time with kids and other animals. It just might take time for them to break out of their shell, as seen in the case of Rufus.

Although no dog is 100 percent hypoallergenic, Bernedoodles can be a great option for those who are allergic as they do not shed as much as other dog breeds. However, allergens can still be released in their saliva and urine. Between 10 to 20 percent of the U.S. population is allergic to dogs, the American Kennel Club reports.

Benefits of Doggy Daycare

When an owner cannot find a friend or family member to watch their dog, they often will turn to daycare centers. They are a great option to ensure your dog is well cared for with the benefits of regular exercise, mental stimulation, and socialization, according to the pet resource site Pet Keen.

Owners will have the peace of mind of knowing their dog is not home alone chewing up furniture, causing accidents, or barking nonstop. Daycare can help with a dog’s separation anxiety. Some places will even work on obedience training.
