Donald Trump’s health has been called into question once again after a video of him “dragging that right leg” went viral on social media.

Ever since Trump decided to rerun for president critics have speculated about his physical condition. People online have been paying close attention to his right leg, despite there never having been any news that there is something wrong with his limb, nor any suggestion the former president is unwell.

Ron Filipkowski, the editor-in-chief of the independent news network Meidas Touch, uploaded a video to X (formerly Twitter) of people cheering at Trump as he walked into a room.

“Still dragging that right leg,” Filipkowski captioned the video. At the time of writing, the post had received 315,800 views.

Newsweek contacted a Trump spokesperson for comment via email Thursday.

The post prompted a lot of comments, with people using the opportunity to share their theories.

“He’s known to have a bad back. I’m wondering if he has nerve compression and a drop foot,” one person posted.

“Frontotemporal dementia causes balance and gait problems. Who’s going to keep him from toppling if Junior’s not there?” said another.

“Right hip and knee carrying too much weight. Needs hip or knee replacement or both. It happens at that age to a lot of elderly,” someone else suggested.

A fourth person added: “I would love to see a thorough report of a physical exam of Trump conducted by an independent and competent physician.”

Others weren’t impressed with the speculation taking place.

“Meaning…what, exactly?” one person asked.

“Misery loves company here. Losers to the 3rd power,” said another.

This isn’t the first time Filipkowski, a long-time critic of the former president, has questioned the movement of Trump’s right leg.

He previously reposted a video uploaded by Trump’s senior adviser, Jason Miller, of the former president delivering pizza to firefighters before the Iowa caucuses.

“He keeps dragging that right leg,” Filipkowski captioned the video. At the time of writing it had been viewed 993,600 times.

Now aged 77, Trump has previously admitted that his health was a consideration in his decision to run for the presidency a third time.

“You always have to talk about health,” Trump said in an interview with the Washington Post. “You look like you’re in good health, but tomorrow, you get a letter from a doctor saying come see me again. That’s not good when they use the word again.”

Trump shared a report in November that he said was from his physician, which reported his cognitive health was “exceptional.” It also said Trump “reduced his weight through an improved diet and continued daily physical activity.”

His likely Democratic opponent President Joe Biden, 81, has faced similar questions over his health and cognitive ability.

During the February 12 episode of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart took aim at both Biden and Trump, mocking the 2024 presidential contenders for gaffes seemingly related to their ages.

“These two candidates, they are both similarly challenged. And it is not crazy to think that the oldest people in the history of the country to ever run for president might have some of these challenges,” he said, discussing whether either man is fit to serve.

“We’re not suggesting neither man is vibrant, productive or even capable. But they’re both stretching the limits of being able to handle the toughest job in the world.”
