Vladimir Putin was quizzed about two US citizens detained in Russia, journalist Evan Gershkovich from the Wall Street Journal and former marine Paul Whelan during a televised press conference.
In his answer, he called on the US to “listen” to Russia and to find a “mutually acceptable” outcome.
“It seems to me that on the whole we’re speaking in a language which we both understand,” he said.
