A rescue dog called Angie Diane, who recently got adopted by her new loving family, has melted hearts on social media after the shelter that hosted her for years shared her miraculous recovery at the facility.

In the post, shared on TikTok earlier in October by Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue, the pup can be seen walking through a pumpkin trail, excited to start her new life with her new family, who adopted her after spending 626 days at the rescue, doing therapy.

A caption posted with the clip explains: “AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From volunteer Dianne: I still remember the day Angie Diane joined the rescue. She was laying flat in a box and the owner reached down, picked her up by the scruff, and handed her over.”

When the dog was initially surrendered, the rescue had no idea of the problems she had and all the care she would need, but still welcomed her and helped her reach her best shape.

The caption continues: “Clearly, she had problems that the owner didn’t tell me about when he called. All he said was that he had puppy for rescue that had trouble walking. Walking? She couldn’t even stand. What a medical nightmare. For 626 days, thousands of dollars in vet care, and thousands of hours of therapy, here is Angie Diane today with her family!”

The pup can now walk with no problems, and even run. And she recently found her new forever home.

“Today, there’s not one thing to feel sorry about for her,” the post continues. “As I stood still, Angie Diane ran past me at record speed. Yes, she has an awkward gait, but make no mistake, she can run fast. We are all better people to have been part of Angie Diane’s journey. She is a miracle who will melt your heart the second you meet her.

“Angie Diane has been to Texas A&M for surgery and goes to work with her mom every day, where she has therapy. She’s become a superstar and has many fans that visit her at work.

“Here is rescue at its finest. Angie Diane is staying with her family who has loved her from the very beginning and are committed to giving her the ‘happy ever after’ she deserves.”

Each year 6.3 million pets are surrendered to U.S. shelters, which is an average of 17,260 a day, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Around 920,000 surrendered animals are euthanized every year. Shelters are striving to minimize euthanasia rates by promoting adoption campaigns, spaying and neutering programs, and behavior rehabilitation.
