Cole Tucker and Vanessa Hudgens aren’t on the same level as fellow celebrity couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce but they do have their own exclusive set of fans.

When Tucker was reportedly released by the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday, the “High School Musical” fans showed up for the husband of the Disney movie series’ star Hudgens. Most fans referred their post to the song “Gotta Go My Own Way” from “High School Musical 2.”

Tucker signed with the Mariners on a minor-league deal in January and arrived at camp as a non-roster invitee after spending last season in the Colorado Rockies organization. He appeared in five games at the big league level and spent the rest of the season with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Through 14 plate appearances with Seattle this spring, he was 2-for-10 with a pair of singles and four walks.

He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft and made his major league debut in 2019 but never became an everyday player at that level. It wasn’t until he began dating Hudgens during the 2020 COVID pandemic that he jumped onto the recognizable scene because his career stats sure didn’t.

In 159 career big league games, he has a batting average of .216 with 96 hits including 18 doubles, six triples, and five home runs. He has driven in 37 runs, scored 53 runs, drawn 29 walks, and struck out 131 times in 444 at-bats.
