Another Fear Factor reboot is in the works according to Variety. Producer Endemol Shine North America and CEO Sharon Levy are set to reintroduce the iconic TV show once again with a fresh vision.

Levy, a self-proclaimed horror enthusiast, is particularly excited about the transformation of Fear Factor, a series that challenged participants with terrifying tasks for rewards during its original run on NBC. The show first aired in 2001 to 2006 and then again from 2011 to 2012 with Joe Rogan as the host. It also had a brief comeback with Ludacris as the host on MTV in 2017 and 2018.

This time however, the producers are switching it up. The focus of the show will shift towards a social experiment, reflecting on societal fears and the significance of conquering them, with Levy telling Variety they are “using where we are in society and how crippled people are by fear — and how important it is to overcome that as a backbone.”

Although original host Joe Rogan, 56, has yet to confirm his involvement in the upcoming reboot, fans can still look forward to a fresh approach. “We are looking at it completely differently than it has ever been done before. When you have a category like ‘Fear Factor,’ which is a social experiment with real stakes, the potential of that idea excites me.”

His podcast The Joe Rogan Experience has an impressive subscriber count of 14.5 million as of March 21, as previously reported by Bloomberg. This surge in popularity suggests Rogan could significantly boost viewership for the show, making it a hit once again.
