Former Detroit Lions WR Josh Reynolds Signs With Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos are doing what they can to overhaul their team for the 2024 season. They began by benching and cutting quarterback Russell Wilson, who has now signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The choice to move Wilson has indicated that the Broncos are going to be targeting a new QB in the 2024 NFL Draft. While Denver is picking at the #12 spot, the team could use other resources to trade up and land one of the better signal callers in the draft.

One area of concern has also been the wide receiver room, which has now received a significant upgrade. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports on X that the Broncos are signing former Detroit Lions WR Josh Reynolds to a two-year deal.

Reynolds’ contract is with up to $14 million, and he will likely line up next to Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr. Reynolds enjoyed a career rebound with the Lions, securing 608 yards, 5 TDs, and a 15.2 yards per catch average.

Head coach of the Broncos Sean Payton will need to address the QB situation in free agency—along with the draft. Wilson’s exit has left a sizeable hole in that department, but there are still plenty of veterans the team can choose from around.

One such player the Broncos should be aiming to sign is former Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill. While Tannehill isn’t the greatest option, he is still a proven starter. He could easily come in and guide whoever the Broncos decide to take in the draft.

At pick #12, the Broncos could land Oregon’s Bo Nix. While Nix isn’t at the top of the list for most teams among college quarterback prospects this year, he could easily be coached up by Tannehill.

The Broncos do have a decent WR room with Reynolds now being added, but they will need to ensure the team has a solid starting QB moving forward to get Reynolds the ball. Sutton, Mims, and Reynolds could make for an exciting trio of talent, but Payton will still need a QB at the end of the day.

The Broncos do have eight picks in the draft, and some of those would presumably be used for the team to move up. Should they make a move into the top 5, they could land someone like Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy.

Either way, whoever the Broncos draft will now be throwing to Reynolds and Sutton. Both could become a solid one-two punch. Reynolds could become an exciting deep-threat option for Denver’s new QB.
