No matter how much you try to spoil your cat with expensive food or toys, they will always end up scavenging in your cupboard and playing with your shoelaces. A former stray cat has left the internet in stitches after refusing the expensive food he made his owner buy.

In the viral clip shared on TikTok in December, under the username garfieldpasha, a ginger cat can be seen sitting down like a good boy when in reality he’s just cost his owner a whole bunch of expensive food that he decided he’s never going to eat.

A caption shared along with the post explained: “When they buy you new expensive food to try, pretend to like it, and then when they buy it in bulk… walk away and never touch it again. Stay Toxic.”

Further down in the comments, the owner added: “Lived 8 years on the streets now so spoiled in 6 months homie forgot where he came from.”

If you thought cats couldn’t be picky eaters, you thought wrong. Because there is so much variety of pet food available nowadays, cats can develop a taste for a specific taste or texture over another and may refuse food they don’t like.

According to VCA Animal Hospitals, once you identify a texture, dry, canned, or semi-moist, that they will eat, you should stick with that formulation for consistency’s sake.

Their website said: “For the semi-moist and canned food eaters, offer very small amounts at any one time. For a cat who is willing to eat dry, but just not all at once, it is reasonable to measure out the entire day’s portion all at once in the morning.

“Yet another option is to utilize a preferred canned food formulation as a ‘top dressing’ on dry kibble. Some canned cat food has a gravy component that may be used as a way to increase the cat’s interest in meal time.”

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 544,500 views and 36,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Sanni, commented: “We had to buy some special expensive food for our boy cat for his kidney problems but he won’t even smell the food.” And Buzzard said: “Drones cat played you. Definitely well looked after judging by that coat.”

Kalevalatar added: “My dad was going to the pet store and I asked him to bring cat food and he bought a MASSIVE bag, same size he’d buy their 40kg dog. My cat started hating that specific food the moment the big bag was opened. Obviously.”
