Fox News has been criticized for allegedly making fun of Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Brittany Mahomes is a former women’s soccer player and entrepreneur who married the football star in 2022. She has been a fixture at Chiefs games for years, though her game-day attendance has been garnering extra attention thanks to pop superstar Taylor Swift. Since Swift began publicly dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in September, she and Brittany Mahomes have become fast friends and are often spotted together in the VIP suites.
Being a woman in the public eye, Brittany Mahomes is no stranger to abuse online. Social media trolls regularly insult the 28-year-old’s appearance and outfit choices and even question her motives, with some labeling the entrepreneur a “gold digger.” But now people online have jumped to her defense.
Ron Filipkowski, the editor-in-chief at MeidasTouch.com, shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) of a headline allegedly from Fox that read: “Brittany Mahomes Shares Cringe Instagram Post After Chiefs Beat Ravens.” At the time of writing the news story was no longer up or the headline had been changed.
“Go after the Mahomes’s too. I highly recommend it for Fox and MAGA. These things are definitely going to pay off for you,” Filipkowski’s sarcastic post read.
Newsweek contacted Fox News and a representative for Brittany Mahomes via email for comment Wednesday.
People echoed Filipkowski’s sentiment in the comments and by retweeting the post.
“It really is an example of toxic masculinity, isn’t it? They’re trying to make fun of these highly successful athletes for showing love and respect for their wives and girlfriends,” one person wrote.

“This really sucks for those of us that have been rooting against the Chiefs for years now – well before Swift or Mahomes. I hate having a common interest with these conservative dirtbags,” a third person wrote.
A fourth person added: “This won’t end well @FoxNews. You don’t mess with Mahomes. Magas gonna turn on you…”
The conservative sports news website, OutKick, published a story with the same headline that took issue with something Brittany Mahomes posted on her Instagram story after the Chiefs won 17-10 against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Patrick Mahomes and his team have made it to the Super Bowl for the second year in a row and will face off against the San Francisco 49ers on February 11.
“Brittany Mahomes did what she does best after the Chiefs beat the Ravens: Find a way to inject herself into her husband’s success,” the article reads.
“You can set your watch to it at this point. She hopped on Instagram and posted a story stating, ‘We went there. We won. Anyone have anything else to say? See yall [sic] in Vegas.'”
The Instagram post has since expired but a screenshot was shared by the New York Post.
Years before Patrick Mahomes would become a first-round pick for the Chiefs during the NFL Draft in 2017, he first met his wife-to-be when they were in high school in Whitehouse, Texas.
The Mahomes had much in common through their passion for sports. Patrick Mahomes was a star athlete at Whitehouse High School, where he excelled in both football and baseball, while Brittany Mahomes played soccer.
They began dating during their sophomore year and tied the knot on March 12, 2022. The couple welcomed their daughter, Sterling Skye, on February 20, 2021. Their son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, was born on November 28, 2022.
