A dog owner has shared the relatable moment she realized what her dog was up to after he had been quiet for a little too long.

German Shepherd Axel lives in Texas with his owner who shares updates on their life on Instagram under the handle @axelunleashed.

In a video with more than 200,000 views and 8,000 likes, the owner captured the mischievous pup in action, destroying one of her floor mats, and ripping them up with his teeth and paws.

A text overlay on the video said: “POV: Your dog has been quiet for too long and you find him doing this.” The clip prompted a series of comments and reactions from fellow dog owners and animal lovers.

“Mine does the same,” viewer Jim said. User Rileighvollert said: “Silence is a dog owner’s worst fear.”

“We have one of those too,” said fellow pet owner Libby. “3 mats in his short 9 months on this planet (so far) 😂 they must be very tasty!”

When dogs engage in destructive behavior, it can be a good idea to provide extra mental stimulation to keep them busy.

Kait Hembree, a veterinary technician specialist in behavior and the head of training at the Boston-based GoodPup group, previously told Newsweek some of the things that can keep your pup busy at home.

“Providing daily at-home mental enrichment opportunities doesn’t have to be hard or time-consuming with a little creativity and fortitude,” she said.

Her suggestions included long-lasting chew toys, puzzle toys, rotating toys so they don’t get bored of them and enriching mealtimes by hiding bits of kibble throughout the house.

Another pet owner recently gained viral attention when she noticed her house was a little too quiet. TikToker @bflesher shared a video of what she found when she went looking for her pets in the quiet house.

When she headed into the house, she found a dog and two cats lying together on the couch, spending quality time together.

In the caption, the owner said: “He pleaded innocent but I don’t buy it…”

Other viewers on Instagram agreed that Axel could be innocent. Islatheislandgoldie joked: “I see nothing.”

Another user said: “He’s innocent.”
