A video of a golden retriever waiting for a playmate in her front yard has gone viral on TikTok.

Fortunately, Ja’NashaC spotted the canine whose head was lodged between a gate with a ball in her mouth.

The on-screen text explains: “This dog was waiting for anybody to stop by to play fetch with her.”

Ja’NashaC couldn’t resist taking the ball and throwing it for the friendly dog who appeared to be elated. She can be seen wagging her tail while running back to the TikTok user with the ball in her mouth.

The video, captioned “So I decided to go play [with] her,” has more than 685,000 views and 100,000 likes since it was posted on November 11.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) has highlighted the importance of playing games to mentally stimulate canines.

Fetch is a great game for pups that also teaches them a life lesson as they learn that good things happen when valuable items are returned to the owner.

Another game that will teach dogs an important lesson is tug-of-war as it teaches valuable skills like emotional self-control, states the AKC.

Playing with dogs doesn’t just keep them happy but also helps them burn off excess energy and prevents them from being bored. This means they are less likely to become destructive. Previously, Newsweek shared an article about a golden retriever who destroyed his bed on 10 occasions.

The dog in the viral video may or may not be home alone, but if she is, she does a pretty good job of amusing herself. This isn’t always the case with dogs, though. If left alone for an extended period of time, an agitated or nervous dog may resort to breaking things in order to relieve some stress.

“An adult dog can typically wait six to eight hours between outside bathroom trips, and for puppies this time frame can be as short as one to two hours, and the interval gets longer as they grow older,” Jennifer Fryer, a veterinarian at Chewy, previously told Newsweek.

More than 1,650 TikTok users have commented on the clip. To watch the video, click here.

One user said: “That was so sweet of you. She looked so bored. You made her day.”

Another said: “I’d call off work just to play fetch.”

“You’re an angel. Thanks for playing,” praised another.

“Thank you for doing this!! I’m crying. You made this pups day just by your pure kindness,” sobbed one user.
