What if there was a way to look like you’ve had a face lift instantly, bypassing the need for surgery, skipping over long recovery times, and using items you probably already have in your beauty supplies? Australian hairstylist Andi Asmaro knows the secret and took to TikTok to share what viewers are calling the “best hack ever.”

In the viral video, which has gained over 1 million views since first being shared on October 9, 2023, Asmaro showed how simple it is to create a lifted look using a single hair elastic and two short steps. He explains: “Grab a small section in line with the brow, grab another section above from the ear, take a mini elastic band and tie until you can no longer tie it.”

After securing the two pieces of hair, it’s time to lift the face. Asmaro’s second step is to “tighten what you’ve just created until you see the brow and eye line being lifted.”

In the viral video, Asmaro takes a small hair elastic to create tension, tying two pieces of hair together and tightening for a lifted effect.

By tightening the hair and moving the elastic band towards the scalp, you create more tension for a lifted effect like what you would see following a face or brow lift.

Hairstylist Darcey Clarke, who has worked with GHD and Schwarzkopf Professional, thinks this is a great hack to pick up for when you want to give your look a more lifted effect.

“I think this hack is one for everyone to have in their back pocket of tricks, as it’s super easy and effective,” Clarke said.

“Another way to achieve the same lift would be snatching the hair from both sides and bringing them round to the back of the head and securing them with an elastic keeping the tension in the band.”

Speaking to Newsweek, Asmaro shared that, despite his clients loving the hack, it isn’t one he’d use every day to avoid any damage to the hair and skin.

“You can cause damage to hair or stretch your skin by doing this daily—to ensure that does not occur, I recommend only using this hack when attending a big event,” he said.

Clarke agrees that, whilst it’s a great way to look snatched quickly, it’s not the best hack to use on the daily.

“Just remember to be cautious of how often you’re using this hack as it certainly isn’t one to be using everyday! With the amount of tension that the elastics hold in this style will over time weaken the hair and you could experience hair loss from this,” she said.

What Do the Comments Say?

With a number of comments asking about whether the style caused a headache or irritation, @gaelle.balain, who was the model for the video, commented: “was so fun modelling for this hairstyle! Also loved how this hack turned on me! And no, it did not hurt nor give me a headache.”

One user couldn’t wait to try the hack for herself, as she added: “Definitely going to try this next time I have a wedding do. thanks for the helpful tip.”

A few were worried about their hair health, with one saying: “And few months later, that spot will be bold!”

Another was apprehensive, adding: “And few months later, that spot will be bald!”
