Hearts Melt as Dog Owner Gets Spaniel Her Own Puppy: ‘Best Decision’

A dog owner revealed how happy her spaniel became when she surprised her with her very own puppy, and now they’re inseparable.

After more than a year with cocker spaniel Bella, her owner knew that there was one piece of the jigsaw that was missing, and that just happened to be another four-legged friend. Getting Bella her very own puppy seemed an obvious decision for the owner, who couldn’t wait to introduce her to her new sister, Papaya.

Bella’s owner, from the U.K, brought home her newest addition in October, and it’s safe to say she doesn’t have a single regret, as she claimed it’s the “best decision” she ever made. An adorable compilation video posted on TikTok (@phoeebeer) showed how much the two dogs have become “the bestest friends.”

Footage of the inseparable duo showed how much they love doing everything together, whether playing, eating, and of course, sleeping. While Papaya may be far smaller than Bella (for now), that makes it perfect for him to cuddle up to his big sister—much to their owners’ delight.

For many dog owners, the decision to get a second dog is obvious—after all, what’s better than having just one dog? Having more than one four-legged friend can double the amount of joy and love in a home, but it can also be incredibly beneficial for both pups to have that companionship.

According to Hill’s Pet Nutrition, having a second dog at home when the owners are out can stop them from becoming lonely and can also prevent boredom. Sometimes, when dogs are bored or anxious, they might turn to destructive behaviors as a coping mechanism, but having a buddy by their side can often put a stop to that. It can also give them a playmate, which means they’re less reliant on the owner to provide entertainment and to burn energy.

However, getting a second pet should be considered thoroughly, as Hill’s Pet Nutrition highlights the added costs that it involves, not to mention the fact that some dogs prefer being on their own.

It certainly isn’t just Papaya’s new owner who loves seeing the friendship between the two spaniels. Since the video was posted a matter of days ago, it has been viewed more than 454,700 times and received over 22,600 likes.

After the video went viral on TikTok, the post has received more than 140 comments from doting social media users. Many people even shared their own experiences of getting a second dog—the good and the bad.

One comment reads: “Every dog should have a friend.”

Another person responded: “omg melts my heart, beautiful babies.”

But a less fortunate dog owner wrote: “I bought a puppy and my other dog has still not forgiven me.”
