Pressure always builds up before weddings, even if you’re just a guest with no significant role in the ceremony bar having fun.

But even the most mundane of wedding guests need to ensure that they’re dressed to impress in the big day’s specific code, and that they don’t upstage the bride—or blend in with her bridesmaids by wearing the same outfit.

However, one woman did exactly that—but fortunately was able to make light of the accidental wardrobe mishap in a social media video.

The newly viral post has struck a chord among reception attendees online, and has led to plenty of previous guests sharing their own wedding wardrobe mishaps.

Taylor Fogarty, who goes by @taylorfogartyy on TikTok, shared a short clip to the platform that captured the match between her blue wedding guest dress and the one donned by the bridesmaids in front of her.

“My Roman empire is the time I showed up to a wedding in the same dress as the bridesmaids,” Fogarty said.

The post had been captioned: “The fact that this actually happened”.

What Do The Comments Say?

Since it was shared to the social media platform on March 16 by @taylorfogartyy, the TikTok post has been liked by over 265,000 users and commented on more than 300 times.

Viewers have laughed along with Fogarty over the easy mistake, or shared their similar wedding experiences in the comments section of the post.

“The only wedding I’ve been to, the bride said that the colors were green, gold and black. I was the only one to show up in a green dress, along with the bridesmaids,” one user wrote.

Another user added: “Went to my great uncle’s wedding. My whole family matched with HOT PINK outfits. Sat waiting for the ceremony to start when the BRIDE starts walking down the aisle ALSO wearing hot pink”.

“This happened at my wedding, but thankfully the girl was supposed to be a bridesmaid originally, she just couldn’t commit so it worked out,” a third user shared.

A different TikToker wrote: “Mine is when the bride kicked me out of the bridal party and made me still wear the dress, and the groom’s father came over to ask me why I was wearing that dress”.

“That happened to me once but I was the [plus one] and had never met the bride or groom before. It was so embarrassing,” another user commented.
