‘How All New Moms Feel’

Fed up with all the new responsibilities of motherhood, one new canine mama had it when the father tried coming over to see the puppies.

Alex the American bully wanted to check out one of his new puppies that was being held by someone in the April 17 TikTok video. But as soon as the mom saw him walking over, she had other plans.

It started with her evil glare as Alex walked past her and her puppy den. She didn’t want Alex near the puppies. She thinks he is “too dumb to handle them.” But Alex went in for a sniff anyway. The mom’s face with her scrunched-up nose showcasing her teeth said it all: Back away from my baby.

Dogs can express several different emotions when they bare their teeth in this manner, WebMD reported. In this case, the mother dog was showing her teeth because she was being territorial. Mom dogs will do this if they feel someone or something poses a threat to their puppies.

The caption reads: “I think this is how all new moms feel about new dads.”

The female dog did not need to do anything else except show her teeth. Alex took that as a sign he was not quite welcome to meet the pups. But don’t worry; that didn’t last forever.

The owner shared with Newsweek via TikTok that the mama has let Alex near the puppies since the video. He even hangs out with the puppies or tries to do so, under her supervision.

In a follow-up clip, Alex is interacting with the pups with hesitation. He is cautious around them since he is unsure what to do with the little ones. Alex hops up on the couch, observing from above.

Although he is new to this fatherly role, he has built-in reaction time. In the video of him playing with the pups, he narrowly misses accidentally stepping on one. Instead, he quickly jumps over and avoids the stern talk he would’ve received from mama.

Viewer Reactions

As of Tuesday, the TikTok clip had 2.3 million views, 204,600 likes and 1,261 comments.

“She said, ‘You’re the reason we’re in this mess,'” wrote a viewer.

Another commented: “She’ll get annoyed and drop them off with him soon!!” To which the owner replied: “She already did.” Co-parenting at its finest!

Others were defending Alex and his right to be a father. A person said: “Alex I got a good lawyer for dads rights you may have to give up some of your treats.”
