Husband Leaves Worst Things Possible Outside House While Wife Is Home Alone

A mom-of-three who was left home alone with the kids while her husband was away for work has revealed the unsettling discovery she made by their backdoor.

Molly Gibson, a cosmetic injector living with her husband Shawn and their family in Nashville, Tennessee, took to TikTok, posting under the handle mollygibsonfnp, to share the sight that greeted her out around the back of their home.

Shawn had gone to Atlanta for work, leaving her responsible for the kids at home. Unfortunately, he’d done something rather irresponsible before he left.

“Nothing says my husband cares about my safety,” Gibson says on the video as she begins to open the back door. “Aside from when he goes out of town and leaves a crowbar and an ax next to the door that goes into your bedroom.”

The camera moves around the side of the house to reveal a rusted crowbar and small ax leaning against the wall just next to the entrance. “Like, yeah, break in and chop her up,” Gibson quips on the video.

Gibson isn’t the first adult to feel a little apprehensive about being left at home by a partner. In a survey of 2,000 married homeowners over the age of 35 conducted by OnePoll on behalf of security camera company Ring, 56 percent admitted they worry about whether or not they forgot to lock the doors and shut the windows as they’re getting ready to fall asleep.

Maybe that’s what made the discovery so disconcerting: even if she had locked the windows and doors, Shawn had left all the tools needed to get inside anyway. There was a logical explanation though.

“We recently sold our house and have been fixing up the house we live in now, so there’s been a lot of construction going on,” Gibson told Newsweek. “Before he left town he and a friend were loading a trailer with all sorts of construction garbage, and also putting away a lot of tools and things.”

Somehow, in the process of clearing up, Shawn had left the crowbar and ax by the back door. “Apparently he thought that was the appropriate place to lay those two specific items,” Gibson said. “Our master just so happens to be in the lower level and the back door leads directly into it. It was obviously a total accident and oversight but I just found it too ‘funny’ to pass up.”

Having seen the funny side in the discovery, Gibson took to TikTok to share what she found. The resulting clip has been watched 2.7 million times, with viewers similarly amused by what happened.

“Your husband is way too helpful,” one viewer commented, with another writing: “he gave them choices.” A third asked, jokingly: “Did he recently up your life insurance policy too?” with a fourth adding: “Why not also put a sign up? Free wife!”

Others shared similar stories of husband-based blunders. “My husband leaves the front open in the morning when he leaves for work and the backyard door open while we sleep. It’s bizarre to me,” one said.

“My husband left a two story ladder outside our upstairs bedroom. I found it while he was out of town,” a second wrote, while a third revealed: “mine did yard work, he left an ax, a shovel and a roll of trash bags… like damn babe.”

Gibson said when she contacted her husband to tell him what he had done he “blamed his helper” for leaving the tools there. “I promptly put all the tools in the nearby garage, out of sight,” she said.

Despite the error, Gibson said she “wasn’t made in the slightest” but rather shook her head and took full advantage on social media. “I knew there was no malice behind it, but talk about an unfortunately hilarious set up,” she said.
