When on vacation, everyone has different priorities. Some prefer relaxation, while others prefer making memories—well-framed, lit and flattering memories, that is.

In a video posted to TikTok, creator Casey Galt (@caseygalt1) gave her boyfriend rigorous training in capturing the best possible holiday photos. The video features Galt in Porto, Portugal, angling herself and instructing her boyfriend to include her and her background fully in the frame. In only one day, the video has received over 27,000 likes.

“POV: You’re training your boyfriend to take your holiday content,” she captioned the footage. “Can you see all the stuff around? Shoes in? And there is floor? Can you see all the people in the background?” she said.

Viewers in the comments were divided, with some finding the footage amusing and empathizing with Galt while others sympathized with her boyfriend.

“As a content creator whose boyfriend uploads one Instagram [picture] a year, I felt this,” @lucypagex wrote.

“I’m so glad other people have this experience of boyfriends cutting their feet out,” @hindmarch_e wrote.

Other commenters saw Galt’s instructions as a “red flag,” wishing her boyfriend a good holiday regardless of the demands.

“Cringe. my ex was like this,” @abc123th123 wrote. “Just enjoy your…holiday mate, be present.”

“Couldn’t deal with this. Enjoy life,” @timnewman92 wrote.

How do content creators get the perfect photo?

Galt, a content creator, responded to comments about how she approaches photo-taking herself.

Some content creators take videos to pull candid images from later, or “spam”-take photos to increase their chances of getting the perfect shot—that is, taking many photos quickly in succession.

Galt said in the comments that she usually takes “spam” photos on her iPhone for her content but makes sure they are on the Live setting.

Other creators on TikTok have offered tips to larger audiences about taking aesthetically pleasing photos. One content creator, Kay (@kayskiz17), offered several different phone positions and angles to take Instagram-worthy photos.

Using the grid feature that some phones offer while taking photos, Kay advocates for positioning the subject between the top and middle squares. She also offers adjustments like using the wide angle, or even taking headless shots to feature outfit details.

Regardless of lessons to create the perfect content, Galt’s video is showing that some don’t care about making—or consuming—content at all.

“Go on holiday and leave your phone/camera at home. My best holidays are pictureless,” @ladddd1234 wrote. “Save the memories in your head. You’ll be very surprised that nobody else cares about your holiday but you.”
