India PM Narendra Modi repeals controversial farm legal guidelines – BBC Information
Three controversial farm legal guidelines have been repealed by Indian PM Narendra Modi after a 12 months of protests.

Hundreds of farmers had camped at Delhi’s borders since final November and dozens died from warmth, chilly and Covid.

Farmers say the proposed legal guidelines will permit the entry of personal gamers in farming and that can damage their earnings.

Friday’s shock announcement marks a serious U-turn, as the federal government had not taken any initiative to speak to farmers in current months, and Mr Modi’s ministers have been insisting that the legal guidelines have been good for farmers and there was no query of scrapping them.

Farm unions are seeing this as an enormous victory, however specialists say the upcoming state elections in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh – each have an enormous base of farmers – could have compelled the choice.
