There’s something so exciting about lighting a fresh candle for the first time, and making your house feel like a home with the smell of freshly baked cookies – but the entire exercise feels almost pointless if the house itself needs a quick clean.

Realizing you can’t fully enjoy your night in before sorting out your surroundings can be frustrating, which is why this cleaning method is taking over: the rage clean.

Someone who knows the method all too well is TikTok user @daisephoto, who shared a video about her rage cleaning experience to the social media platform—a cleaning tactic many of the 974,000+ viewers relate to.

In the video, the woman tells viewers, “Something about girlhood that I love is that today I rage cleaned my house.”

Following a trip to Target, the woman brought home a new candle and a cake stand she was excited to fill with cookies, only to get home and realize her home felt like it needed cleaning before she could enjoy her new purchases.

The quickest way to get the results she felt she needed was to rage clean, an internet term for quickly cleaning your home while angry, frustrated, or in a rush to create a more calming environment.

She explained, “I couldn’t put the cookies in here if the house was dirty, and I couldn’t light the candle if the house was dirty… Now everything is clean, the cookies have been baked, and life feels good again.”

What Do the Comments Say?

People in the comments section showed their appreciation for rage cleaning, relating to her need to have everything in order before enjoying her new homeware.

One user commented, “YES just let me spend $50 on new home things and it will make me clean the whole house! I’m cheaper than a maid.”

Another added: “RAGE CLEANING IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!! And my ‘candle’ is my lavender diffusers, they make me so happy!”

Rage cleaning goes beyond the home, as one user shared: “I will not buy an air freshener for my car unless I’ve cleaned and vacuumed it.”

Others reminisced over when they had time to rage clean, as one user said: “I want this experience again but i have a husband and a baby”.

Another added: “I wish. 6 months pregnant and have a toddler and a 1 1/2 yr old and a husband. I clean and then 5 mins later it’s a mess again.”
