Italy sees ‘Europe’s hottest ever temperature’ as wildfires rage – BBC Information
The Italian island of Sicily could have registered the most popular temperature ever recorded in Europe – 48.8C (119.8F).

Regional authorities reported the studying, which must be verified by the World Meteorological Group (WMO), close to Syracuse on Wednesday.

In line with the WMO, the present official file in Europe is 48C, registered in Athens, Greece, in 1977.

The newest heatwave in Italy is being brought on by an anticyclone – nicknamed Lucifer – shifting up from Africa.
