During Tuesday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the podcast host revealed his fear for the future and his concerns regarding nuclear weapons.

The UFC commentator weighed in on the state of the world, using Israel’s ongoing war on Hamas in Gaza as a reference point.

On October 7, Hamas launched an attack on Israel, which it said was retribution for worsening conditions for Palestinians under Israeli occupation. Israel declared war on Hamas and launched hundreds of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, followed by a ground invasion. The Associated Press reported that at least 1,200 people were killed in Israel, per the Israeli military, and more than 32,900 Palestinians have been killed as of Wednesday, according to health authorities in Gaza.

Numerous countries including Russia, Iran, and Turkey have since questioned Israel’s nuclear weapons inventory. In February, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said tensions in the Middle East could spill over into the use of nuclear weapons.

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Rogan for comment Wednesday.

“I just can’t remember a time in my life where things have just seemed so unhinged,” Rogan said on Tuesday’s show.

In response, guest David Holthouse—a writer, producer, and director—said it felt like things “could go sideways in a hurry,” to which Rogan agreed.

“What’s terrifying is if you’re willing to, like let’s say what Israel is doing to Gaza, if you’re willing to almost eliminate a city, just bomb the f*** out of a city and kill who knows how many innocents. What is it? What are the numbers?” Rogan asked.

“It’s 30,000—I don’t know what the numbers are—what’s the line that keeps you from dropping a nuke that kills 300,000? What’s the line?

“Why are we, why do we have this idea that it won’t accelerate to that when it has in the past? Is it just because we only did it once in Japan in 1945? Is that what it is?”

This isn’t the first time that Rogan has discussed nuclear weapons on his show.

During an episode of the podcast with singer-songwriter and actor Suzanne Santo, Rogan expressed his thoughts on the probability of a nuclear war.

The duo discussed the habit of people sharing their problems on social media, to which Rogan said: “Like, the worst thing that could happen is that something would shake us out of it. The worst thing that could happen is like, a world event would shake us out of it… Like a nuclear war. No b*******. That’s so possible right now. It’s so possible. It’s more possible than it has ever been in our lifetimes since the Cold War.”

In another episode, Rogan hosted former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. They spoke about the likelihood of a nuclear war and said people were unaware of how close we are to a potential nuclear war.

“Most people aren’t, and part of it is because, again, the media hardly covers it. And if they do, they’re talking about…the waging of nuclear war as though it can be won or as though there’s some kind of limitation to the destruction and devastation that it will cause,” Gabbard said.

Rogan is known for sharing his opinions on a variety of topics, whether it’s his thoughts on Joe Biden’s cabinet or New York City’s squatters’ policy. He usually keeps quiet about his personal life but during Tuesday’s episode, he made a rare reference to his wife Jessica Ditzel and their three daughters.

The podcaster shares two teenage daughters with Ditzel—Lola and Rosy. He also adopted Ditzel’s daughter, Kayja Rose, in 2009.
