Kate Beckinsale graced the red carpet in a rare appearance, just one month following her mysterious hospitalization, revealing that she’s had a “tough year.”

The actress showed her support at the King’s Trust Gala in New York City on Thursday, May 2, turning heads in a striking white off-the-shoulder organza dress with a high-thigh slit. She complemented her ensemble with a ponytail adorned with an oversized black bow, along with dangling diamond earrings.

Beckinsale refrained from delving into specific health matters, although concern among fans escalated after a now-deleted Instagram post hinted at her hospitalization in March.

“Thank you to those that love us and support us when it’s s— and try to make sure there are some bits that aren’t. And for looking after our dogs when we can’t, and lead us to remember happy things when we can’t,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of her in a hospital bed, according to People. “And turn up when we are sick and sit with us . . . And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love.”

The reason for her hospitalization has remained undisclosed, but she did address why she’s struggled this past year. “It’s been a rough year,” Beckinsale told People on the carpet. “Because my parents have both been unwell and my cat … it’s been a bunch of things. So that’s why it’s nice to come and see friends and have a little perspective. Everyone’s had a bit of a rough year, I think.”

However, an eyewitness said that Beckinsale “was in great spirits,” according to Entertainment Tonight.

The event was chaired by Lionel Richie, Global Ambassador and Chairman of the Global Ambassadors Group for King’s Trust, along with Edward Enninful OBE, also a Global Ambassador for the organization.

The Underworld actress wasn’t the only A-lister in attendance — Chrissy Teigen, Penélope Cruz, and Kate Moss were also there to support King Charles III’s philanthropic work.
