Kim Kardashian Blasted Over New Photos

Even though a series of 2022 Balenciaga ads provoked fury and indignation from the public, Kim Kardashian has been spotted wearing the brand’s clothes—and some are slamming her for it.

The luxury fashion house is renowned for its boundary-pushing campaigns, but in November 2022 it received a severe backlash for two ad campaigns. One photo shoot featured children holding teddy bears wearing bondage clothing, while another featured an image of a Supreme Court opinion on a child pornography case

The company was quick to apologize and offered explanations about what had happened. A creative director known as Demna owned up to his role in the ad campaign and said he was sorry at the time. “I want to personally apologize for the wrong artistic choice of concept for the gifting campaign with the kids, and I take my responsibility,” he said in a statement on December 2, 2022.

Meanwhile, photographer Gabriele Galimberti told Newsweek that he had minimal involvement in the teddy bear ad and was simply asked to point and shoot.

However, the Spanish fashion house hasn’t been able to completely distance itself from the scandal. People online are still holding it accountable for the startling ads and slamming celebrities who are seen wearing its clothes, including Kardashian.

The reality TV star has uploaded a series of photos to Instagram, where she can be seen wearing a variety of winter-weather outfits. They include a white top and a white puffer jacket where the Balenciaga label is visible. In the comments section of her post, some question her for wearing clothes from the brand.

Newsweek contacted Kardashian’s representatives for comment via email Thursday.

“She keeps wearing the pedo brand,” one person commented, referring to Balenciaga.

“Why you still wearing balenci? You apologized,” asked another.

“Why is this mother of 4 still wearing this pedo brand?!?” someone else asked.

A fourth added: “Her wearing the pedo brand in the midst of document reveals is SO telling.”

This comment was referring to the recent unsealing of court documents related to the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. Prominent figures like former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump and Britain’s Prince Andrew are named in the documents.

Kardashian’s post comes after she said she was “reevaluating” her relationship with the brand in November 2022 because of its controversial campaign.

She said at the time that as a mother of four children—whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West—she was “shaken by the disturbing images” of the advertisements.

“The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in November 2022.

She went on: “I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened.”

Kardashian added that she “appreciated” Balenciaga’s decision to issue an apology and drop the campaign and she was “reevaluating [her] relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with.”

Despite this statement, in October 2023 she was featured in a lookbook shot for the luxury brand’s summer 2024 collection.

Although the shot was her first official collaboration with Balenciaga since the scandal erupted, she was seen wearing a variety of clothes from the Paris-based fashion house in April 2023 when she was in Tokyo. This was the first time she publicly wore Balenciaga after announcing she was reevaluating her relationship with the brand.
