A dog has been filmed forcing his owner to brave extreme weather conditions because he desperately needed to go for a walk.

In a video posted to TikTok under the handle pietro.pizzorni, the desperate canine can be seen heading out for what his owner describes in the clip’s on screen caption as the “fastest walk in history.”

As the dog makes his way down the steps of his owner’s apartment, a mix of high winds and heavy rain can be seen raging in the backdrop. It soon becomes clear that the dog is out there for one reason alone: he needs to pee.

Thankfully, the dog wastes little time in finding a spot to do his business and, given the duration of time spent doing it, it’s clear that the trip outside was a necessary one.

“Nature calling,” a caption written alongside the video reads.

There are countless positives to owning a dog. One of the most obvious is the increase in physical activity among owners.

In 2019, a study published in the scientific journal Nature found that dog owners were nearly four times more likely to meet their recommended daily physical activity guidelines compared with non-dog owners.

Researchers estimated that dog owners spent an average of 300 minutes per week walking their dogs. By comparison, that amounted to around 200 more minutes of walking than people without a dog.

But while there are myriad reasons why having a dog is great, night time walks in the cold wind and rain probably isn’t one of them.

Fortunately for the TikToker in the video, his dog does not hang around once his business has been done and they soon return to the warmth and security of their home.

For some watching the video, the events that played out provided a reminder of exactly why they opted against getting a dog. “That’s why I don’t wanna have a dog. I love them but no,” one user wrote.

Others, however, found the scenario hilariously relatable. “My great Dane does the same,” one fellow dog owner commented, while another wrote: “We had a very cold day (-17°F), and my dog left exactly 2 pawprints and a yellow spot in the snow.”

A few were unhappy at the pet owner for allowing his dog to urinate in such a public place. “Where’s your bottle of water?” one asked, evidently expecting the man in the video to make an effort to clear off his dog’s urine from the area he choose to do his business in. A more extreme reaction came from another TikToker who wrote: “Don’t let your dog do this. Disgusting.”

Then there were those who were happy to simply marvel at the duration of time the dog spent relieving himself in the video. “He needed that,” one user wrote, with another declaring it “the longest wee in history.” A third said: “legend has it he’s still peeing.”
