One mischievous dog has gained viral attention for his unusual obsession.

Golden retriever Obi-Wan, who lives with his owner in Nashville, has left people laughing on TikTok after he was caught red-pawed with a massive rock tucked away in his cozy dog bed.

In a video posted on the video-sharing app by user @toricbeck, Obi-Wan’s penchant for bringing home unexpected treasures became clear. In a comment, the owner explained: “He brings them home and snuggles on his bed with them.”

Obi sits in his bed, wagging his tail excitedly while proudly displaying the colossal boulder.

But when the dog’s owner approached to investigate the commotion, Obi swiftly sprang into action, strategically placing himself over the rock and casting innocent puppy-dog eyes to divert attention. The caption playfully said: “He really said ‘there’s nuffin here.'”

The adorable video has quickly gone viral, amassing over 686,000 views and a flood of comments from amused viewers sharing their own experiences with rock-loving golden retrievers.

Commenters rushed to share their reactions—including anecdotes about their own dogs with a penchant for rocks.

“We had to buy a muzzle for my golden. He’s not mean. He just eats rocks at the dog park,” said one pet owner.

Other owners shared stories of their golden retrievers’ love for unconventional items.

“My golden is also a rock girl. Concrete is a preferred second choice,” said viewer Mackenzie. While Cindy said: “Our golden does this every time he goes out.”

Another viewer even joked that it was Obi’s “emotional support rock,” adding a laughing emoji. And another said: “It’s his pet rock.”

In the U.S., the dog toy industry was valued at $2,986.9 million in 2022, and is projected to reach $4,359.2 million by 2033. But Obi proved that it isn’t just tug ropes and squeaky toys that our canine friends are interested in, and one commenter even quipped: “It’s the things that cost almost nothing that they love.”

Golden retrievers picking up rocks is not uncommon, either. The breed’s affinity for carrying rocks during walks—or even underwater—is a common trait, as reported by owners on platforms like the Golden Retriever Forum. While some dogs merely collect rocks, others may ingest them, posing potential health risks such as intestinal blockages and digestive issues.

Experts emphasize the importance of monitoring and addressing this behavior promptly. If a golden retriever consistently picks up and eats rocks, owners are advised to consult with a veterinarian to ensure the dog’s health and safety.
