A restaurant has been flooded with tongue-in-cheek reviews after Rep. Lauren Boebert was accused of getting into a fight with her former husband.

Police officers in the congresswoman’s home state of Colorado are investigating Boebert and her ex-husband Jayson Boebert after they went to the Miner’s Claim restaurant in Silt, Colorado, on January 6.

There is an “ongoing investigation,” and Silt Police Chief Mike Kite did not reveal any further details. Boebert said she did not punch her former spouse. Newsweek approached Boebert’s office and Miner’s Claim for comment via email on Monday.

“Come by if you want to see your pathetic excuse of a congressional representative get into a public fight with her husband,” one review on Google read.

Another added: “Food is fantastic and if you’re lucky Lauren Boebert will punch you in the face!”

More jokes flooded the search engine, and one person wrote: “Terrific!!! They must have messed up the drink for the table next to us but they decided to roll with the punches any way!”

The Colorado Republican called the situation “sad” and one that “keeps escalating.” Boebert cited it as another reason she is moving districts.

“I didn’t punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested,” she said in a statement provided to the Daily Beast. “I will be consulting with my lawyer about the false claims he made against me and evaluate all of my legal options.”

The Daily Beast also reported that Jayson Boebert called police to Miner’s Claim because he had been a “victim of domestic violence.” Boebert’s office denied this to the news website.

The reports also said a heated disagreement had occurred earlier in the day when the lawmaker drove to Jayson Boebert’s house to pick up one of her sons. An aide told the Daily Beast that he had attempted to hug her but was pushed away.

Jayson Boebert then called to apologize and arranged for the two of them to meet at Miner’s Claim where he acted in a “lewd” manner and was “being an a******.”

Attempting to keep him back, the congresswoman “put her hand in his face, put her hand on his nose.”

Further reports indicate no arrests were made and that Boebert was cooperative with police.

Donald Trump supporter Boebert is moving from Colorado’s 3rd district. She last won the race to represent the district by just over 500 votes, but said personal reasons were the major factor in her decision to move to the safe seat held by outgoing Republican Ken Buck.

“Personally, this announcement is a fresh start following a pretty difficult year for me and my family,” Boebert said in a video in December last year. “I had never been in politics before and I’d never been through a divorce, something I never intended to go through. I’ve made my own personal mistakes and have owned up and apologized for them.”

In September 2023, Boebert released a statement apologizing for her behavior after she was escorted out of a Denver theater during a performance of the musical Beetlejuice.
