Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown couldn’t help but provide his brother, Chicago Bears wideout Equanimeous St. Brown, with a much-needed reminder during the latest episode of their podcast.

The NFC North rivals meet regularly to discuss topics from around the NFL for The 33rd Team podcast network. During an episode released on Wednesday, that included previewing Detroit’s Week 7 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The 4-2 Ravens are coming off a 24-16 win over the 2-4 Tennessee Titans. Equanimeous wasn’t exactly impressed. And a slight diss from the 27-year-old set up a perfect response from his younger brother.

“They just beat the Titans,” Amon-Ra said of the Ravens. “They’re feeling good.”

“That’s the Titans,” Equanimeous responded.

“The Titans aren’t bad,” Amon-Ra said.

“They’re not bad, but they’re not like, you know,” Equanimeous said.

“As a Chicago Bear, you can’t really say anyone is bad,” Amon-Ra chimed in.

“We’re not great either, but I can say other people are bad, too. Like us,” the Bears receiver admitted.

Ouch. But Amon-Ra isn’t wrong. Chicago lost to the Minnesota Vikings, 19-13, last weekend to fall to 1-5 on the season. That’s tied for the second-worst record in the NFL. And between controversies both on and off the field, the 2023 season has so far been one Bears fans will most likely want to forget.

Equanimeous won’t have the opportunity to help change that any time soon. The 2018 sixth-round pick by the Green Bay Packers was placed on injured reserve last week with a hamstring injury, which means he has to sit out at least four games. The older St. Brown brother has only one catch over the two games he’s appeared in this season.

Things are going much better in Detroit.

The Lions are off to a 5-1 start a year after beginning the season 1-6. Detroit is the only team in the NFC North with a winning record at this point in the season and is making a push for the franchise’s first division title since 1993.

Both St. Brown brothers agreed on their latest podcast episode that they consider the Lions among the best teams in the NFL this season, amplifying what Amon-Ra said over the weekend.

“We put so much focus into each week and so much preparation, and to come out with a victory, it feels really good,” the 23-year-old said after a 20-6 Week 6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “But, we know we have bigger goals in front of us. We want to keep doing what we’re doing, we want to get to the playoffs, we want to have home-field advantage for the playoffs. There’s so many things we want to accomplish this year.”

Detroit started the 2023 season off with a statement road win over the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. Since a Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Lions are on a four-game win streak and are now one of five 5-1 teams in the NFL.

The Lions rank fourth in the NFL in scoring offense and ninth in scoring defense.

Amon-Ra St. Brown caught 12 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown against the Bucs — his best performance of the season so far. A year after being named to the Pro Bowl, the former fourth-round pick out of USC has 38 catches for 455 yards and three touchdowns this season.

“I trust the hell out of him, and he’s earned it,” Lions quarterback Jared Goff said of his star receiver after the Bucs game, via the team website. “That’s really the best answer for you. He’s one of the best players in the league at his position. We are lucky to have him. He keeps making plays like that, he’s fun to play with.”
